Through my photography, I seek to bring the various identities of being an Indian-American woman to my body of work and comment on social justice issues, such as racism and sexism. I aim to create images that capture the essence of the moment and convey a sense of emotion and narrative to connect with individuals all over the world. I work to explore and capture different emotions, feelings, and perspectives. When taking a photo, I take care to place emphasis on each part of that photo: from coming up with the base idea to placing items/people and actually taking the photo to the editing phase. My specific style usually contains exploring black and white vs. warm color grading based on the context of the photo. Much of my photography inspiration comes from traveling, either from portraiture or street photography, as I feel drawn to preserving the way I see the world. Ultimately, through my lens, I seek to document the beauty and complexity of her cultural heritage and hope to inspire others to explore and celebrate their own cultures and individualities.
